Private First Class Gold was a member of Company A, 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was lost while fighting the enemy in North Korea on July 6, 1953. Private First Class Gold was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.
